I fished a Cook County Forest Preserve Lake and hoisted in an impressive 335 fish on Sunday. Sadly, the feeding slowed down a bit after cold rain dropped in on the lake and chilled my fish! Fishing through two steady rains, I was on an impressive 124 fish an hour pace. I estimate that I was well into a 150 fish and hour pace prior to the cold rain dropping the shallow water near me, but will happily take that fishing total. This pushes my fish catch for 2009 to 1,530.
I set out to fish a 3-hour…

There it is - not a great year, but a good total and something to build on - 1,195 fish landed this year. Saturday fishing session in the afternoon with a catch of 233 fish takes my total past the 1,000 fish mark for the season.
I will have to wonder about the ones that got away! While I did manage to land 233 fish, there were a few things that happened on Saturday that cut into my 3-hour fishing session on the timer.
The highlight of my Saturday was a teaching session and getting two new angle…

I continue to look into the news that the world's most famous fish has passed on. Some great stuff and truly shows what our fisheries could be if our anglers cared about our fish.
BBC News Coverage
Caught 63 times this fish meant well over $500,000 to this fishery as 1,000s of anglers would purchase day tickets to go after this giant fish.…

If you ever complained for a license price to fish American waters - say a week pass to fish Minnesota - check out these prices to
fish 2 days in England.
I will translate for you $78 gets you two days fishing on this brilliant water for prized carp.
What they don't tell you is that these carp are tough, but our fish in the US fight twice as hard! Take advantage of great fishing around Chicago - some of the top carp waters in…

Ok, one cold front later and the fish were not all crazy on Sunday afternoon. Shame, it was a fantastic fishing day out in Churchill Woods, Du Page County on the Du Page County River Forest Preserve waters. Shallow waters were ripe for fishing on this partly cloudy day and I thought this would give the fish some comfort where they would move about and feed. The depth is around 3 foot so bright days sometimes spell disaster and make the fish very shy. This venue is so nice to fish, too bad it can…

54 fish included a few big fish caught casting and fishing the pole at 22 feet, combating a little wind and cloudless skies. The season total of fish that I have caught stands at 958 fish. Bigger fish and gills started to hit towards afternoon, unfortunately I had already put in my time - time was up! I did manage to land 5 channel catfish between 2 and 3 lb. each, obviously stocked as they were all about the same size. Also featured on the day were 3 carp, one decent size coming in around 6 lb.…

Soaked to the bone and the most muddy feet I have had in a long time highlighted Saturday's fishing. A couple anglers braved the steady rain Saturday morning which gave way 2/3 through the session to partly cloudy and great fishing conditions. The fish were going crazy on this venue all morning long. Local rain entered the lake through a storm drain, which I targeted as a great place to fish. Waters on the venue increased the depth by about a foot from the time we started to the time the session…

Conditions were overcast, lightly breezy with a chill in the air. A big front moved by in the last hour but the rain never really dropped on us besides a couple of sprinkles.
Got a brief chance to fish but was working on bigger projects for the Fishing School, getting a list of recommended gear together. I worked on getting some rods in stock that would be good to start out on as well as finalizing some of the tackle. This cut into the fishing session.
Du Page County Forest Preserve public wate…

Saturday, May 16th - Naperville, IL -
Conditions became windy, colder and tougher fishing Saturday morning post-rain storm, with diminishing rain giving way to partly cloudy and windy, temperatures in the high 50's. I Fished a public pond in Naperville and battled wind and cold landing 230 fish at mid-day. After the club fishing class, I fished the water where I taught a father from Naperville and his son.
Joe, Mike's son, ended up landing at least 60 fish during the lesson! Nice fishing Joe -…
